Powell Receives the 2022 Barfield Nursing Award

Anna “Ginny” Powell, RN, was presented with the Barfield Nursing Award during the 2022 GPHA Annual Meeting and Conference on Jekyll Island. The Barfield Nursing Section Award was initiated by the Nursing Section of the Georgia Public Health Association in 1983 to honor Dorothy Barfield. Ms. Barfield was a lifelong learner who rose up the ranks in the nursing profession, eventually serving as chief nurse at the state level. The purpose of this award is to recognize written works, presentations or projects, including research, that promote public health by contributing to public health issues, programs, evidence and philosophies.

Powell lives in Woodstock, Georgia with her two children. She graduated from Kennesaw State University in 2017 and immediately joined the nursing workforce in public health at the Acworth-Kennesaw Public Health Center.

In late 2020, Powell accepted the position of Clinic Supervisor where she has been serving since.
