Gov. Kemp Appoints Coronavirus Task Force
Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp has assembled a statewide task force to manage the response to the coronavirus threat. The task force brings together subject-matter experts from the private and public sectors to advise on preventive measures, strategic deployment of resources, and more.
Legislative Update for Feb. 28
The Senate Labor and Insurance Committee approved SB 327 that modifies the requirement for businesses to provide break time and a private location for an employee who needs to express milk for her nursing child. The changes appeared to have support from both the business community and advocates for nursing mothers.
March 11 is Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day in Georgia
In recognition of the public health contributions of Registered Dietitian Nutritionists throughout our state, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp has proclaimed March 11, 2020 “Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day” in Georgia.
Georgia House Modifies Budget Cuts
The budget is still the big story coming out of the Georgia capitol. The Georgia House last week modified many of the cuts recommended by Governor Brian Kemp, including cuts to county health departments. The $27.4 million FY20 amended appropriations bill has been sent over to the Senate.
