This course delves into the intricate relationship between nutrition and pediatric oral health across different stages of growth, from the first 1,000 days of life through preschool years. Nutritionists and RDs will leave this presentation equipped to provide essential nutritional guidance to families to support their child’s oral health.
About the Speakers
Dr. Sara Karlin
Dr. Sara Karlin is a board-certified pediatric dentist currently working in private practice in Atlanta, Georgia and as an attending pediatric dentist at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Pediatric Hospital. She received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Maryland, College Park and completed her D.D.S. at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry. Dr. Karlin pursued her specialty training at New York University and Bellevue Hospital Center, earning a certificate in Pediatric Dentistry. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and the Georgia Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Karlin is the primary author of “Dental and Oral Considerations in Pediatric Celiac Disease,” published in J Dent Child, May 2016, and has co-authored numerous online continuing education courses for oral healthcare providers. As a keynote speaker, Dr. Karlin presents an array of nutrition and oral health topics to dental and dental hygiene organizations across the continent.
Dr. Karlin’s zest for life shines in the classroom, dental exam room, in front of the microphone, and beyond her professional endeavors. In her free time, she enjoys traveling the globe for new experiences, hiking with her husband and their Goldendoodle, and indulging her guilty pleasure of reality television. However, her free time has been limited now that she and her husband have welcomed their first, child, a sweet, precious baby boy!
Ellen Karlin
Ellen Karlin currently owns and operates a virtual nutrition consulting service. Previously, she was a nutrition consultant to dental healthcare professionals in Owings Mills, Maryland, and spent over 3 decades as a nutrition consultant at the Comprehensive Asthma and Allergy Center. Mrs. Karlin holds a Master of Medical Science degree in Nutrition Education from Emory University and is a fellow of the American Dietetic Association and a member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
Mrs. Karlin is a spokesperson for the American Dairy Association Northeast and the Bone Health and Osteoporosis Foundation. Mrs. Karlin is a nationally recognized keynote speaker at healthcare conferences and is the co-author of “Dental and Oral Considerations in Pediatric Celiac Disease.” Additionally, she has collaborated as co-author for several online continuing education courses and has delivered numerous webinars.
Mrs. Karlin’s passion for health and nutrition is unmatched. There is not a day that goes by without neighborhood walks, diverse eats, and ensuring that her friends and family maintain a healthy lifestyle.
