Taxing Bad Food; Subsidizing Veggies


The New York Times recently published an article about the need to tax unhealthy foods to generate money, and then using that money to subsidize the purchasing of healthy foods such as vegetables, lean meats and whole grains.

Mark Bittman, author of the article, suggests that a small tax on unhealthy drinks consumed regularly would provide the government with the billions of dollars needed to provide better foods for Americans.
